Tigers face India in 1st match of ICC Champ Trophy today

Bangladesh Cricket team will take on India Cricket team in their first Group-A match of the ICC Champions Trophy today at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
The gala match will start at 3:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports and private channel Nagorik TV will telecast the match live.
Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the Tigers, while Captain of India Cricket team Rohit Sharma will lead his side.
The ICC Champions Trophy, one of the most prestigious cricket competition in the whole world is a 50-over-a-side tournament.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and India played in 41 One Day International (ODI) matches. Of them, India won 32 matches, while Bangladesh recorded eight victories and rest of the one match ended without result.
Despite their 37-year rivalry, India and Bangladesh faced each other just once in Champions Trophy history. Rohit’s unbeaten 123 and Virat Kohli’s 96 not out in a 188-run second-wicket partnership helped India chase down 265 in Birmingham in the 2017 tournament edition. India, the eventual runners-up in that edition, won the game by nine wickets.
It may be mentioned that India will play today’s match without their key player Jasprit Bumrah as he has been ruled out from the tournament due to injury.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto said, ” We are not thinking any particular player. They have many quality cricketers. Our side are balanced in this format. We believe that we can beat any team in this tournament. All the participating teams have the capability to clinch the title.
If we can execute our plan we can win against any team in any day. All the participating eight teams are standard outfits. We have some good memories against India, Pakistan and New Zealand. We won some matches recently. We have a good result against India in 2022 at home.
But it is past. If we can play according to our plan, today’s match will be a good game.”
He also said, ” We have to adapt with the wickets of UAE and also Pakistan. We played against Pakistan in Rawalpindi last year.
My teammates are adamant to present a better brand of cricket. Where we play a good number of spectators come to the arena to watch our matches. I hope the spectators will come tomorrow and support us.”
