Moulvibazar Correspondent :
In different areas of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar, the owners of brick kilns are cutting the fertile soil of the agricultural land with excavator machines (excavator machines) without paying attention to the rules. Apart from this, these soils are also being used in people’s homes. As a result, thousands of acres of agricultural land are losing their fertility.
The local agriculture department fears that the production of cropland will decrease and the fertility power will be lost. Besides, soil transport trucks, tractors, trolleys are moving on the roads and paved roads of UP by filling them with soil, causing the soil to fall and ruining the roads and the surrounding environment is being polluted by the soil dust.
School-college students have to move with a handkerchief over their nose and mouth due to dust. If action is not taken against brick kiln owners and agricultural land owners soon, the aware people think that agricultural land will be threatened with food shortage in the future.
There are 13 brick kilns in Kulaura upazila. Bricks are produced in the kiln for 6 months every year. In those 6 months, 6 million to 1 crore bricks were prepared in each brick kiln. Clay and loam soil are used as raw materials for making bricks.
Cropland soil A class of businessmen has developed in the business of selling. They buy the soil of the farmer’s land on acre or bigha contracts at low prices during different times of the year (off-season). Especially during the dry season, soil is harvested from cropland for brick kilns and supplied to brick kilns at high prices.
Some farmers of Tk Being greedy, he is selling soil by taking advance money directly from the owner of the brick kiln. Selling the soil is damaging the gypsum or zinc in the topsoil of the cropland. In addition, the microbes that exist in the soil and the functions of microorganisms are limited.
By doing this day by day in the agricultural land Production capacity is declining. Soil organic power will be reduced and will suffer long-term damage. And in this way, if the soil of the cropland goes to the brick kiln, the crop production will be disrupted slowly.
It has been seen on the ground that 15-20 trucks per day from Minaramhal, Nazir Chowk Hasanpur area of Kulaura Sadar Union The soil of the agricultural land is being taken to Titas Bix owned by Majidur Rahman Afzal of Laskarpur by tractor. This is causing extensive damage to some local LGED roads. Locals also submitted a written complaint to the upazila executive officer and the OC of the police station to stop illegal cutting of soil.
