Rangpur taste first defeat in BPL Cricket

Rangpur Riders tasted first defeat in the Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited as they lost to Durbar Rajshahi by 24 runs in their match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
Rangpur Riders led the points table collecting 16 points from nine matches, while Durbar Rajshahi earned eight points from 10 matches.
Sent into bat first, Rajshahi piled up a fighting total of 170 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then all out Rangpur for 146 off 19.2 overs.
Rajshahi’s Zimbabwean recruit Ryan Burl played the key role in wrecking Rangpur’s innings with a good support of Meherob Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam and Sabbir Hossain.
Burl captured four wickets in the space of 22 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for outstanding bowling performance.
Meherob Hasan and Taskin Ahmed bagged two wickets each for 19 and 20 runs respectively.
Shafiul Hasan and Sabbir Hossain took one wicket each.
Saif Hassan and Nurul Hasan of Rangpur fought back.
Saif Hassan cracked a quick-fire 43 from 29 deliveries with five fours and two sixes.
Nurul Hasan hit a captain’s knock of 41. His 26-ball innings had four fours and two sixes.
Durbar Rajshahi had a modest start with two openers Mohammad Haris and Sabbir Hossain put on together 24 runs before Haris (19) was caught by Khushdil Shah off Rakibul Hasan.
Sabbir Hossain and Anamul Haque built a worthy partnership contributing together 52 runs in the second wicket stand before Sabbir was caught by Mohammad Saifuddin off Khushdil Shah when Rajshahi’s total was 76 for the loss of two wickets.
Sabbir hammered a hurricane 39. His 19-ball innings was belted with three sixes and four fours.
Anamul Haque and Yasir Ali made their team’s biggest partnership adding together 76 runs in the fourth wicket partnership before Yasir Ali was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Khushdil Shah when Rajshahi’s score was 152 for the loss of four wickets.
Yasir Ali struck a typhoon 60. His 32-ball knock was studded with six sixes and two fours.
After Yasir’s departure, Anamul Haque could not stay at the crease for a short period as Anamul Haque was run out by Khushdil Shah when Rajshahi’s total was 153 for the loss of five wickets.
Anamul Haque made 34 from 31 balls featuring two fours.
After Anamul’s dismissal Rajshahi failed to make any notable partnership as Akif Javed shone with the cherry.
Akif Javed and Khushdil Shah grabbed three wickets each instead of 23 and 31 runs respectively.
Nahid Rana and Rakibul Hasan took one wicket apiece.
