10 to get Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024

Ten distinguished poets and writers have been selected to receive the prestigious Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2024, recognizing their remarkable contributions to Bengali literature.

Bangla Academy Director-General Professor Mohammad Azam made the announcement on Thursday following the approval of the executive committee.

The recipients of the award are:

Poetry: Masud Khan

Fiction: Salim Morshed

Drama & Playwriting: Shubhashis Sinha

Essays/Prose: Salimullah Khan

Children’s Literature: Faruk Nawaz

Translation: G H Habib

Research: Mohammad Shahjahan Mia

Science: Rezaur Rahman

Liberation War: Mohammad Hanan

Folklore: Syed Jamil Ahmed

The award ceremony for the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024 will take place during the grand opening of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 where Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will formally present the awards to the honourees.

The selection of these literary luminaries was based on the recommendations of the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024 Proposal Committee and the subsequent decisions of the Bangla Academy Literary Award Committee 2024, all of which were ultimately approved by the Bangla Academy Executive Committee.
