Minnows Dhaka earn hard-fought win in BPL Cricket

Minnows Dhaka Capitals earned a hard-fought six-run win over Sylhet Strikers in their match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.
Chasing Dhaka’s fighting total of 196 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Sylhet were restricted to 190 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Sylhet Strikers faced an early debacle as they lost two wickets for 32 runs.
Opener Rony Talukdar and second-down Aaron Jones rescued their team from disaster contributing together 80 runs for the third wicket partnership before Jones was caught & bowled by Thisara Perera when Sylhet’s total was 112 for the loss of three wickets.
Jones made 36 from 32 deliveries including three fours and a sixer.
After dismissal of Jones, Rony Talukdar could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was bowled out by Perera when Sylhet’s score was 127 for the loss of four wickets.
Rony hit a marvelous 68. His 44-ball innings was belted with nine fours.
After Rony’s departure, Jaker Ali, Ariful Haque and Samiullah Shinwari fought back scoring 28, 29 and 12 runs but those were not enough to chase Dhaka’s total.
Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets at the cost of 46 runs.
Mosaddek Hossain and Mukidul Islam took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Dhaka lost their early three wickets for 62 runs.
Opener Litton Das and Sabbir Rahman made a remarkable partnership scoring together 42 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Sabbir Rahman (24) was bowled out by Tipu Sultan when Dhaka’s total was 104 for the loss of four wickets.
After Sabbir’s dismissal, Litton Das and Thisara Perera built another notable partnership adding together 81 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Litton Das was caught by Sumon Khan off Ruyel Miah when Dhaka’s score was 185 for the loss of five wickets.
Litton Das hammered a windy 70. His 49-ball innings was ornamented with four fours and four sixers.
Thisara Perera hit a quick-fire 37 from 17 balls with three sixes and three fours. Thisara Perera captured two wickets for 31 runs. Perera was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Tipu Sultan and Samiullah Shinwari bagged two wickets each instead of 26 and 27 runs respectively.
Ruyel Miah and Sumon Khan took one wicket each for 32 and 47 runs respectively.
