Manna denied bail again

Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Tuesday rejected bail pleas of Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s in two cases filed on charge of sedition and inciting the army. Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Kamrul Hossain Molla rejected the bail plea after hearing. On March 5, the sedition case was filed against Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka centering their reported ‘telephonic conversation’. Police questioned Manna twice in the cases. Earlier, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka scrapped his bail petition. Manna was heard telling Sadeque Hossain Khoka to engineer clashes at Dhaka University in order to unleash reign of terror in the country. He fell sick in the second leg of remand and was taken to hospital with chest pain. The former Awmai League leader Manna is currently in jail.On Febbruary 24, plainclothes police picked up Manna from a house at Banani in the city. The following day, Rapid Action Battalion confirmed his arrest and handed him over to the Gulshan Police Station.On the same day, a Dhaka court placed Manna on a 10-day remand in the case filed for instigating armed forces to revolt.Two reported audio clips of the conversation between Manna and BNP leader Khoka were leaked on February 22.
