The 3-day long International Shadow UN Conference 2024 ended at Koshiyara International Convention Hall Chandipul Sylhet on Sunday organised by Sylhet’s first private university Leading University Model United Nations Association. Delegates discussed global problems and innovative solutions under the theme of the conference ‘Green Tourism: Combining Prosperity and Environmental Conservation’. Under the overall supervision of LUIMUN Shadow Secretary General Kushal Kanti De and Advisor Ashfaq Ahmed Shobhan, more than 500 students from 40 international and Bangladeshi universities, medical colleges, colleges and schools participated in this year’s conference in 11 committees. The 11 committees are: United Nations Security Council, International Court of Justice, Committee on Disarmament and International Security, United Nations Environment Programme, United Nations World Tourism Organization, United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, Specialized Committee for Bangladesh Affairs and United Nations News Agency.
The conference was inaugurated by Leading University Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Danbir Dr. Syed Ragib Ali. The Chairman said, ‘This conference is a similar exercise to the United Nations Conference through which students will be able to learn about international relations and diplomacy. It is a great honor and an opportunity for young people from different countries to work together. He also said, “The country will benefit from the leadership knowledge that will be acquired among the participants as a result of participating in the conference.”
Also, at the event, Syed Abdul Hai, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said, “LUIMUN is creating such a platform for young students from which some solutions will help in a peaceful and inclusive society.”
He thanked LUIMUN and every participating delegate and guest for organizing such a prestigious event. And expressed the hope that the participants will prove their skills with their best efforts.
