Token hunger strike of battery- run rickshaw owners, drivers observed

Owners and the drivers of the battery- run rickshaws of the Chittagong city observed token hunger strike yesterday from 8 am to 1.00 pm at Zilla Parishad Market Square in front of Chittagong Metropolitan Police headquarters in city .
The token strike was observed under the banner of Chittagong Battery- run Rickshaw Malik-Sramik League. General Secretary of the Jatiya Sramik League Nurul Islam attended the programme as Chief Guest .
The chief guest in his deliverations said rickshaw drivers are not involved with any nuisance activities like robbery, stealing, hijacking etc and they earn money by driving the rickshaws with hard labour. He said following the sudden prohibition of battery run rickshaws, thousands hundred rickshaw owners, drivers, garage workers are facing miserable life with family members.
