Tigers avoid follow-on against Windies

Bangladesh avoided follow-on after piling up 269 for the loss of nine wickets against West Indies on Day 3 and declared their first innings of the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua of West Indies.

Earlier, the hosts declared their first innings making 450 for the loss of nine wickets on the Day 2.
The Tigers trailed by 181 runs from the Caribbeans.

Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 40 for the loss of two wickets.

Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Mominul Haque resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 10 and seven runs respectively.

Dipu could add more eight runs on the third day as he was caught at the first slip by Kavem Hodges off Kemar Roach when the Tigers’ score was 66 for the loss of three wickets.

Mominul Haque and Litton Das mended the innings scoring together 62 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Mominul Haque was trapped leg before wicket by Jayden Seales when Bangladesh’s total was 128 for the loss of four wickets.

Mominul Haque notched up a painstaking 50. He hit three fours in his 116-ball innings. It was Mominul Haque’s 21st Test half-century.
