CPA will float new tender for New Mooring Terminal

The port handling agreement of the NewMoring Container Terminal with Saif Power Tech ltd is going to be expired by January next . At present Saif Power Tech- a private enterprise is handling the NMCT through Director Purchase Method(DPM) .
It is decided the Chattogram Port to float new tenders for handling the terminal. NMCT is one of the bigger port terminal where 4 oceanging vessels can take berth and loading and unloading at a time.
CPA chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman disclosed at the views exchanging with journalists at Shaheed Munshi Fazlur Rahman Hall on Tuesday last.
CPA chairman also said before handing over to any foreign operators, for the time being it will be operated by the local operators through competitive bidding. He also emphasised to ensure fair business environment breaking the syndicate grouping.
He alsomentioned that during the previous AL govt, about 23 enterprises were awarded works of lightering consignments from mother vessels to inner berths but now after propoer scrutiny these licenses were cancelled.
