Minhaj Mannan elects DSE’s director unopposed

Minhaj Mannan Emon, managing director of BLI Securities Limited, elected as the shareholder director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the main capital market of the country without any competition.

According to DSE, on Tuesday (November 19), one shareholder director post of DSE was vacant. The Election Commission declared Minhaj Mannan Emon the winner as no other candidate submitted nomination papers.

The Board of Directors of DSE on October 16 retired judge of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court to elect a vacant post of the Board of Directors of DSE on December 10. A three-member election commission was formed with Abdus Samad as the chairman.

The other two members of the Election Commission are DSE’s shareholder representative. Rafiqul Islam and Dewan Azizur Rahman.

The Election Commission announced the election schedule for the election of a shareholder director on October 28.

According to the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers was from last November 12 to 17. During that period, only Minhaj Mannan Emon, the shareholder representative of BLI Securities Limited, filed nomination papers.

As a result, the Election Commission declared Minhaj Mannan Imon, Managing Director of BLI Securities Limited, as the shareholder director of DSE.
