Build discrimination-free BD: Jamaat

Bogura Correspondent :

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh is committed to building a humane Bangladesh free from discrimination, enforced disappearances, killings, bribery, and corruption.
Ameer (chief) of the party Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made the announcement on Saturday at a public gathering in Bogura’s Altafunnesa Compound while highlighting the group’s vision for a Bangladesh grounded in the values of equality and justice.
Dr. Rahman criticized the previous 15-year autocratic rule of Awami League marked by repression, violence, enforced disappearances, and corruption.
He said the people’s continuous resistance accompanied by student-led movements forced the AL leaders to flee. “Those responsible for violence, injustice, and societal inequality would not go unpunished”, he added.
“The previous regime, which violated citizens’ rights by ordering gunfire on the people, has lost the moral right to ask for votes from the public,” Dr. Rahman asserted.
He added that recent legal actions are now bringing these figures to justice and that those committed violence against Jamaat’s leaders are facing retribution in the same courts.
The gathering was presided over by Abidur Rahman Sohel, Ameer of the Bogura City Jamaat, with Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and other prominent leaders, including Jamaat Executive Council member Professor Shahabuddin and Workers’ Welfare Federation Vice-President Golam Rabbani, attending as special guests.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Rahman addressed the Bogura city and district Jamaat’s Rukon conference.
