Bangladesh Chess team leaves for Nepal tomorrow

Bangladesh Chess team will leave the city tomorrow for Nepal to take part in the Asian Zonal (Zone 2,3) Chess Championship Qualifiers (Men’s & Women’s) scheduled to be held at Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal from March 27 to April 1.
Premier Bank is sponsoring Bangladesh Chess team.
Marking the participation of the Qualifiers, a press briefing was held at the conference room of National Sports Council Tower on Tuesday.
President of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed, General Secretary of BCF Gazi Shayiful Tarique, Deputy Managing Director of Premier Bank Dewan Anwarul Latif, Senior Vice President & Head Corporate Banking Division of Premier Bank Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin were present at the press briefing.
A total of six countries will take part in the chess competition. They are: Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan will participate in the chess meet.
Two divisions of Bangladesh Chess team will compete in the Qualifiers. They are: Open Division and Women’s Division.
The players of Open Division are: Grand Master Ziaur Rahman, Grand Master Niaz Morshed, Grand Master Abdullah Al-Rakib, Grand Master Enmul Hossain, International Master Md Minhaz Uddin, FIDE Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FIDE Master Khondker Aminul Islam, FIDE Master Devraj Chatterjee, Candidate Master Sohel Chowdhury and International Master Abu Sufian Shakil (own cost).
The players of Women Division are: International Woman Master Shamima Akhter Liza, Woman FIDE Master Nazrana Khan Iva, International Woman Master Rani Hamid, Woman FIDE Master Zakia Sultana, Woman FIDE Master Sharmin Sultana Shirin and Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury Moli (own cost).
The officials are: Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation Md Jahangir Alam (own cost), Executive Member of BCF Shakil Meraj (own cost).
The competitions will be held on nine round Swiss-League system basis.
