Sr, Staff Reporter, Rangpur :
Residents on both sides of Teesta river are becoming homeless every year. Various structures including cultivated land, houses, trees and plants are disappearing in the river.
During the current monsoon season, the houses of hundreds of families have been washed away by the Teestariver in Gangachraupazila of Rangpur.
At present, the water in the Teestariver has started to recede, but the breach has increased in West Shankardah village of Lakshitari union of the upazila. The connection road at the northern end of the GangachraTeestar Bridge is under threat.
At the beginning of the current monsoon season, the Teestariver was about one kilometer west of the northern end of the Teesta bridge road.
In the last 4 months due to continuous erosion, the Teesta River has moved about 500-600 meters to the east and has come close to the bridge connecting road. In the last one week, the houses of 4 families in that village were destroyed by the river.
