Barishal police strike looms over 11-point demand

The officers and employees of the Bangladesh Police held a protest rally on the Barishal police line ground on Tuesday afternoon. At this time, they presented 11-point demands and announced a strike until the demands are met.

Under the banner of “Platform for Police Reform”, the agitated police-men staged that protest rally inside the police lines. In a written statement, the policemen pointed out that the chain of command of the police has broken down.

High officials or guardians went into hiding without any guidance, due to which police force are in secure lapse. According to the 11-point demand, those who attacked, kill and brutality injured the police should be brought to justice; independent police commission should be established so that the police cannot be used by any party or political government to implement its political agenda.

They said, houses of the police force are also being attacked.

Many members of the police force were brutally killed. Many members of police force were injured in the attack on police lines, police stations and police boxes.

In this situation, until the safety of every member of the police force is ensured, we are announcing a strike by the subordinates of the police force, in the statement they announced.

The working hours of the police should be made 8 hours and risk prevention, appointment of sergeant and sub-inspector should be made by public service commission. Police Regulation of Bengal should be reformed and modernized and the status of the police force should be increased, the 11-point demands included.

At that time, the angry general policemen said that we cannot take the responsibility of some corrupt police officers. We want their immediate removal.
