Shahjalal Science and Technology University Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain and Treasury Prof Amina Parveen have been given an ultimatum to resign within 24 hours. This ultimatum was given by the anti-discrimination student movement on Wednesday.
Hafizul Islam, SUST coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, confirmed the matter and said that they will have to resign by 5 pm on Thursday. At the same time, all teachers and administrative officials who took a stand against the movement, including the Proctoral Body, the Director of Student Counseling and Guidance, the Provost Body, the Teachers’ Association, must apologize and resign from their duties, accepting the responsibility of failing to fulfill their duties and putting the students at risk of death. Otherwise we will be forced to declare them undesirable from the campus for life.
However, students will consider staying on campus for those who accept responsibility and apologize.
However, officials said that they have not seen any active activities in the campus since then.
Several employees of the university said that they were absent from office activities three days before the country’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country on Monday (August 5).
Meanwhile, several teachers of the university said that seeing the unfavorable situation, the vice-chancellor has been staying in the capital Dhaka for the past one week. Several officials and employees, who did not want to be named, said that the vice-chancellor and vice-chancellor left the campus after the anti-discrimination student movement demanded the fall of the government.
However, it is known that they are inquiring about the overall movement of the university from the trusted ones through mobile phones.
