‘BD strengthens resolve against drug menace’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal emphasised ongoing efforts to curb drug invasions, aiming to safeguard future generations from falling victim to destructive narcotics.

Addressing as the chief guest at a discussion and award distribution ceremony marking the ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2024’, held at the Jatiya Natyashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha, the capital, on Sunday (July 14), the Home Minister highlighted the urgent measures being implemented.

“We are actively engaged in operations against drugs, recognising their emergence as a societal affliction,” stated the Home Minister.

He further outlined collaborative efforts with global partners to mitigate drug demand and associated harm through comprehensive strategies.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on July 26 since 1988 by the United Nations General Assembly, holds significant importance globally.

Minister Khan Kamal reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to the UN’s current slogan, ‘Drug invasion is visible, prevention is the solution’.
