Bhangura (Pabna) Correspondent :
Public suffering has increased due to slow paving of Bhangura-Naogaon road in Pabna. About three months ago, the contractor picked up the bricks of the one and a half kilometer road from Patul Bazar to NaubariaBisharNala and left them in a haphazard manner. Pits and puddles have formed due to the accumulation of rainwater at various places on the way.
As a result, there is a serious disruption in the movement of vehicles on this road. Besides, this road is now the only hope for the residents of Khanmarich and Dilpashar Unions of the upazila, as the alternative sub-mergeble roads have been submerged in flood water.
Sohail Ahmed of Patul village said that it is very difficult for people to move because the stone of bricks are not laid and kept rolling. That is why the villagers have demanded the speedy paving of the road.
It is reported that 5 crore rupees have been allocated for paving five kilometers of this road from Naubaria to Moydandighi of LGED. The contracting firm Barendra Limited got the work order but instead of doing the work themselves, they subcontracted it to a contractor named Rezwan Ahmed. Rezwan, the sub-contractor, said that the work is being delayed due to not receiving the bill according to the progress. However, he said that the work has been resumed from Tuesday.
Upazila Engineer AfrozaParvin said, if the contractor did the work step by step, it would not have been difficult to get the bill. Still, the contractor has been instructed to complete the paving work quickly to reduce the public suffering, he said.
