Absence of doctors in emergency dept of Ctg hospital irks minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen expressed utmost unpleasant while visiting a Chittagong hospital seeing different negligence including finding no doctors in the emergency department in the time.

The Health Minister visited at Chittagong Medical Center Hospital on Friday evening, as part of his drive to pay surprise visits to different health care facilities in order to get a better idea of the care and service they providing.
Dr. Samanta Lal came away from this latest inspection unconvinced as he saw the two doctors he talked in the hospital wore no aprons while they were on duty.

Besides, the hospital even failed to produce its license to operate as a medical centre.

“The two doctors I talked to did not have any aprons on. The hospital did not have a license during the visit. Besides, there is no information including the photo of the information officer at the hospital’s stipulated desk,” Dr Sen said.

There was also no sucker machine in the emergency department, the health minister said.

The health minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the overall quality of healthcare in the hospital after the inspection.

He told the hospital authorities that he would take the necessary steps having seen the unsatisfactory state of healthcare at the hospital.

Director General of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr. Abul Bashar Muhammad Khurshid Alam, Director (Hospital), Dr. Abu Hossain Muhammad Moinul Ahsan and Civil Surgeon of Chittagong Dr. Mohammad Ilias Chowdhury, among others, were present during the visit.
