Bangladesh take on Australia in FIFA WC Qualifiers today

Bangladesh Football team will take on Australia Football team in their home match of the FIFA World Cup (WC) Qualifiers today at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital. The match will kick-off at 4:45pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the arena.
The Socceroos arrived in the capital on Tuesday last.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Football squad could get almost seven day’s for practice under supervision of their Head Coach Javier Cabrera. Bangladesh Football squad took part in their last practice session at the match-venue on Wednesday.
According to the latest FIFA rankings, Australia have taken the 24th position, while Bangladesh have taken the 184th spot.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Australia by seven goals to nil in their away match of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Melbourne in Australia on November 16 in 2023.
Besides, Bangladesh and Australia played two matches of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2015. Bangladesh lost to Australia by four goals to nil in their home match in Dhaka , while Bangladesh tasted a 5-0 defeat to Australia in their away match in Perth.
Australia reached the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and bade the Qatar World Cup Good-by after tasting a 1-2 goals defeat to champions Argentina.
Bangladesh, Australia, Palestine, Lebanon are in Group-I. Australia led the points table grabbing maximum 12 points from four matches. Palestine took the second position collecting seven points from four matches, while Lebanon took the third spot gaining two points from four matches.
Bangladesh took the bottom position earning one point from four matches. Bangladesh made a 1-1 draw with Lebanon. Besides, Bangladesh tasted a lone goal defeat to Palestine after conceding the goal at the dying moment.
After playing against Bangladesh, Australia Football team will leave the city and will play their home match against Palestine on June 11 at Perth in Australia.
On the other hand, after playing against Australia, Bangladesh will play their away match against Lebanon on June 11. Bangladesh will play against Lebanon in Qatar (neutral venue).
It may be mentioned that if Australia win over Bangladesh, the Socceroos will play in the next round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
