Sylhet journos briefed over Vit-A+ campaign

On the occasion of the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign, Sylhet Civil Surgeon’s office held a view exchange meeting with journalists on Thursday at the EPI conference room of the Sylhet Civil Surgeon office. Sylhet Civil Surgeon Dr. Monisar Chowdhury presided over and medical officer Dr. Swapneel Sourav Roy conducted the meeting.
Deputy Civil Surgeon of Sylhet Dr. Janmejoy Dutta, Medical Officer Dr. Snigdha Talukder, Medical Officer Maimun Nahar, Senior Health Education Officer Sujan Banik and others also attended this meeting.
It is to be noted that next Saturday 1st June in total 2413 centers of Sylhet district will be celebrated by giving 1 blue capsule to 44643 children aged 6 to 11 months and 1 red capsule to 370604 children aged 12 to 59 months in Sylhet district. . Vitamin A is one of the most important nutrients for healthy survival, normal growth, eyesight and immune system of the child. Vitamin A deficiency can lead to diseases ranging from night blindness to xerophthalmia, which can lead to complete loss of vision. In addition, lack of vitamin A reduces the immunity of the body, the duration of diarrhea increases, anemia occurs and the dryness of the skin increases.
