Union Chhatra League Gen Secy held with weapons

Eleven were arrested along with the general secretary of the Chhatra League along with a bag full of domestic weapons. Police arrested 11 youths along with Kanokdia Union Chhatra League general secretary Sizan Kazi (24) and his younger brother Siam Kazi (19) along with indigenous weapons in Baufal of Patuakhali on early Thursday.
Sizan and Siam Kazi is the son of Mizan Kazi, the panel chairman of that union.
At that time, a large quantity of sharp and lethal weapons including ramadas, gachhkata da, , iron rods, steel pipes and sticks were recovered from them in a plastic bag.
Meanwhile, the police prohibited media workers from going to Baufal police station at night to take information and footage of the criminals.
ASI Kowsar Hossain, duty officer of the police station, said that they are not allowed to talk to the media except permission of the senior officers. Weapons or photographs of the accused cannot be given without the permission of the OC.
Later, the mediapersons made several calls to the official and personal numbers of Shonit Kumar Gayen, OC of Baufal police station, for information, but he did not receive. Arrestees were sent to the court Thursday early morning and sent to Patuakhali jail after producing before the court on Thursday afternoon without giving details to the journalists.
According to local sources, Baufal Upazila Parishad elections were held last Tuesday (May 21). After announcing the results of the election, Dalim, the supporter of former upazila Awami League General Secretary and defeated candidate Abdul Motaleb Howlader was assaulted and beaten by Sizan, the supporter of the upazila Awami League vice-president and winner candidate Mosharef Hossain Konakdia market area.
As a result of this, Sijan and some members of local teenage-gang beat up three people including Pomegranate last night.
Later, on early Thursday in presence of the upazila executive officer, the Baufal Thana police raided house of Sizan at Kankadia Bazar. At that time, police arrested from Sizan along with a large quantity of domestic weapons.
Sijan’s father, Mizan Kazi, accused in this regard, said that they were having a picnic in the joy of winning the election. Suddenly the police arrested them without any reason.
We do politics and have opponents. So we have to keep some baton and sharp weapons at home to protect ourselves. If I was at home, police could not arrest my sons.
