Prof. Anu Muhammad’s toes crushed by train

The toes of Jahangirnagar University Professor Anu Muhammad’s left leg were severely injured in a train accident in the capital’s Khilgaon area on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at around 11:00 a.m. After the incident, he was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and admitted to the post-operative ward, said Md. Masud Miah, Sub-Inspector of Police of the DMCH police outpost.

In this regard, Prof. Bidhan Sarker, head of the DMCH’s Burn and Plastic Surgery Department, told the media that all five toes of his left leg were crushed, and it is impossible to repair toes now.

A man named Mahtab, who was with the professor at the time of the accident, told the media.

Earlier, Anu Muhammad went to Phulbari in Dinajpur, and on Sunday morning, as he was heading towards the capital, when the train stopped at Khilgaon Rail Crossing for a very short time, he tried to get down, but his leg went under the wheels of the train.

He tried to pull him out of the railway trucks, but before he could fully drag him out, the train started again.
