Over 2 lakh families to get VGF cards ahead of Eid

On the occasion of upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, 2 lakh 40 thousand 479 needy families are getting rice under countrywide VGF program in 9 upazilas and 7 municipalities in Sirajganj district. District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Aktaruzzaman confirmed the information on Thursday (March 27) while talking to the New Nation.
According to Sirajganj District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, 2 lakh 14 thousand 293 cards have been allocated for distribution in 83 unions in 9 upazilas of the district and 26 thousand 186 cards have been allocated in 7 municipalities. Against this card, a total of 2404.790 metric tons of rice will be distributed to the helpless and distressed at the rate of 10 kg per person.
Among them 30 thousand 982 people in Sirajganj Sadar upazila, 44 thousand 86 people in Shahjadpur upazila, 33 thousand 855 people in Ullapara upazila, 25 thousand 404 people in Belkuchi upazila, 15 thousand 747 people in Kazipur upazila 25 thousand 302 people in Raiganj upazila, 14 thousand 823 people in Tarash upazila, 10 thousand 246 people in Kamarkhand Upazila, 13 thousand 848 people in Chauhali upazila. Rice will be given at the union level.
Besides, 4 thousand 621 people in Sirajganj Sadar municipality, 4 thousand 621 people in Shahjadpur municipality, 4 thousand 621 people in Ullapara municipality, 4 thousand 621 people in Belkuchi municipality, 3 thousand 81 people in Qazipur, 3 thousand 81 people in
Raiganj municipality, 1 thousand 540 people in Tarash municipality will be given this rice.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Aktaruzzaman said, these are in fact Eid gift of honorable Prime Minister. A letter has already been sent to the union and municipality in every upazila of the district to distribute this rice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to the instructions, the allocated VGF rice will be distributed with lifting by April 3, this official said.
