Locals protest to withdraw case against teacher

The local residence of Enayetpur Upazila in Sirajganj district staged a protest rally on Wednesday against the false allegations made against a college teacher named Rashid Uddin Bhuiya, who is the lecturer at Khamargram Degree College.

Rashid Bhuiya is the office secretary of the Enayetpur Thana Awami League and also a general secretary of the Teachers’s Association of the college.

Local residents, students, and representatives of civil society members marched through major roads in the area, such as Hatkhola, Mondalpara, Keji More, and Betil-Khamargram, starting from the Enayetpur Thana, to protest against the false allegations.

Finally, in front of Khamargram Degree College, Awami League’s Thana President Ahmed Mostafa Khan Bachchu, General Secretary Ajgar Ali BSc, former UP Chairman Rashidul Islam Siraj, District Council member Aminul Islam Alamin, social worker Alhaj Uddin, and veteran teacher and freedom fighter Shahjahan Ali Mia, spoke on the occasion.

At the time, the speakers mentioned that Babu Mirza Jewel, vice-president of the farmers association of Gopinathpur village in Enayetpur Thana, has been involved in various misdeeds, including drug trafficking and supporting gamblers, using his identity as a journalist.
