‘Stern action will be taken against extortionists’

BSS :
Issued a note of warning against the extortionists, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Tuesday said that stern action will be taken against all forms of extortion during the Eid.

“We will not tolerate any sort of extortion in any sector including the transport sector,” he said this while presiding over the overall law and order, security and traffic management meeting on the occasion of holy Ramadan and upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr at the police headquarters here.

The IGP directed the field level police officers to carry out their duty to control commodity prices with sincerity. He emphasized on market monitoring and smooth movement of goods carrying vehicles.

“Everyone should be careful so that none can create any issue during the Ramadan and Eid and deteriorate the law and order.

Officials should be vigilant so that no vested quarters can destroy communal harmony or cause of untoward incidents by spreading through rumors and misinformation in the cyber world,” Mamun said.
