13 Kalapara shops gutted in fire

A terrible fire has burnt thirteen shops at Mohipur fishing port in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district. The fire incident took place on early Sunday.
Later, three units of fire service brought the fire under control with an effort of one and a half hours at about 3:00 AM.
The fire is said to have started from the fish store of Malek Akon, a fish trader in the market and immediately spread to the nearby shops. Eyewitnesses said that at around 1:00 AM in the night, a fire was suddenly seen in the basement of the Akon fish farm.
Locals immediately tried to extinguish the fire with water. But within a short time the fire spread to other nearby fish farms and around 13 shops including tea stalls, electronics shops, motorcycle garages.
Later, fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control with an effort of about two hours.
Kalapara Fire Service Station Officer Ilias Hossain said that two units of Kalapara Fire Service Station reached the spot and extinguished the fire after receiving information and brought the fire under control within two hours.
