LGED builds Belaichhori-Rangamati road costing Tk. 338cr

For the first time, the inhabitants of Belaichhori upazila are going to get a land road that will help them lessen suffering from water way, the only means to communicate between the upazila and Rangamati district headquarters.
Construction work of the 40 kilometers length and 12 feet width road of Taka 338 crore is going on under supervision of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Ahmed Shofi, Executive Engineer of the department said the New Nation.
The road will establish a communication with Rangamati headquarters connecting between Karikorpara of Raikhali Union under Kaptai upazila and Belaichhori upazila, a remote hilly area surrounded by water.
Of the total length, 32 kilometers are under Kaptai Upazila while 8 kilometers under Belaichhori upazila.
A total of 12 bridges of 1300 meters will be built to connect the road. Dipongkar Talukdar MP of Rangamati inaugurated the construction work of the road on October 8, 2022.
Giving priority to road communication between the remote upazila and Rangamati headquarters, the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project titled Karikorpara to Belaichhori Road Bridge and Culvert Construction Project on May 4, 2021, Ahmed Shofi, Executive Engineer of LGED confirmed the New Nation.
