Visitors’ surge increased sales on last Friday of Book Fair

It was the last Friday of the month-long Ekushey Book Fair and the flock of the visitors thronged into the fairground of Bangla Academy premises and SuhrawardyUdyan.

The publishers said that they experiencedcrowds from the very beginning of the fair but sales have not been getting well compared to the visitors so far.

However, from some days, the fair had some occasional days like Ekushey February and the sales increased.

While visiting the book fair saw that it was totally reverberated with a great number of bookworms that kept the stall attendants busy for every moment in exhibiting books and telling the main concept of the books.

“The more days of the book fair are passing, the more sales are increasing day by day,” the stall attendants added. Mehdi Hasan, stall attendant of Oitijjo Publication, said, “The sales are getting higher today as we have gotten a great response from visitors. The people who come now, they tookbooks.”

“The publications on history, economy and the Liberation War are selling more. The novels of Rabindranath are growing more attention among novels,” he added.

The book fair however opened at 11 am and continued till 9pm where a total of 197 new titles hit the fair. Besides, a discussion was held remembering Akhteruzzaman Elias on the main stage of the book fair.

A great number of children enjoyed the Shishu Prohor and popular television shows, Sisimpur, and also played with the Sisimpurcharacters_Ikri, Hallum, Tuktuki, and Shiku.

Zakir Hossain, the owner of Bhumi Prakash said, “Today is the last Friday of the fair and the sales are fairly good. Hope the sales will increase more on the following days.”

A prize giving ceremony of drawing competition for children, recitation competition and music competition was also held at the Bangla Academy.
