DU issues Ekushey Feb route map

The Dhaka University (DU) administration drawn up a route map for the people who will come to visit and pay tribute to the martyrs of the language movement at Central Shaheed Minar and Azimpur Graveyard on February 21.

DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal issued the route map on Monday and informed the overall preparation of the Shaheed Minarat a press conference held at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury virtual classroomof the university.

The route map will be effective from February 20 night, according to the university admin.

The DU Vice Chancellor called upon the all stockholders to cooperate for observing the day smoothly.

According to the route map, people will enter to the Shaheed Minar through the Palashi crossing, and the road in front of Salimullah Muslim Hall and Jagannath Hall.

After placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar people would exit the place through the roads in front of the university playground, Doyel Chattar and Chankharpul via in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Moreover, the road on the east of Jagannath Hall from TSC and the road from VC Chattor to Fuller Road crossing will remained closed.
All the VVIPs and VIPs will pay tribute at the first batch of 21 February. Later the commoners will be allowed to enter the Shaheed Minar premises through Palasi squad.

The police however said that there is not any security threat centering Martyrs’ Day and also International Mother Language Day. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman informed this at a briefing after visiting the Shaheed Minar.

“The central Shaheed Minar area is covered by closed circuit cameras. Besides, bomb disposal team, SWAT team, fire service, medical team and other teams will be on standby at a safe distance.

Besides, there is a measurement of round-the-clock searching and patrolling in the Shaheed Minar area,” the DMP commissioner added.
