9 shops gutted in Bagerhat

As many as nine shops including a cosmetic shop, sanitary shop, a shoe shop, poultry and fish-feeder shop etc. were gutted when a devastating fire broke out at Jatrapur Bazar under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district at Thursday night (at about 12-30 am), according to a report received here.
Being informed of the matter 2 fire fight units rushed to the spot from Bagerhat district headquarters and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for 2 hours. But in spite of that all the nine shops along with their all belongings were burnt to ashes. The loss of fire could not be ascertained till the writing of this report. But, according to the affected shop-keepers, the loss of fire is about a crore or more than that. Sayeedul Alam, Deputy Director of Bagerhat Fire Service Station told, it is guessed that the fire was, perhaps, originated from electricity short-circuit. Another report states that a tin shed dwelling house and a kitchen belonging to one Selim Morol (45) of village Sayedpur within Rakhalgachi Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat distrct were gutted when they caught fire on Thursday evening (at 07 pm). It is learnt at that time no inmate of the house was present.
