Winter waning amid spread of cold-related disease

At the end of Magha, the eve of winter’s departure is back again. In this, common people are in trouble due to cold-related diseases. Temperatures were on the rise a few weeks ago after months of severe winter. But since February 8, the mercury has started to fall again. 10.5 degrees on 8th February, 8.2 degrees on Friday 9th February, 10.2 degrees on 10th February and 11.2 degrees on the morning of Sunday 11th February at Ishwardi Meteorological Observatory.
The severity of winter has increased again in the Ishwardi area surrounded by the Padma river. Even though the sky is clear and the sun shines during the day, the sufferings of the people have increased again in the bone-chilling winter in the northern frosty wind. The people of the Char area and the lower class and daily laborers are suffering a lot. As the severity of winter increases, the number of cold-related patients has increased in Iswardi Upazila Health Complex. In addition to the admitted patients, on Sunday (February 11) morning, about six hundred patients received treatment in the outpatient department of the hospital. Hospital sources said that most of these patients are suffering from fever and cold.
