Bhangura land-registry office runs in risky rooms

Since the Bhangura Upazila Sub-Registry Office of Pabna does not have its building, the land registration work has been going on for a long time in a dilapidated room. As a result, the officers and employees of this office are at risk. It is reported that after the upazila system was introduced, the Ministry of Law constructed this building and it is used as a criminal and civil court. Later, after these courts were transferred to the district, the building was vacant for a few years.
This building later was temporarily allotted for a sub-registry office. Since then, the land registration work has been going on here. But since the building is not permanently allotted to the sub-registry office, the authorities are unable to construct their own building here. Even funds are not allocated for the renovation of the building. The building gradually fell into disrepair due to lack of renovation. Already the plaster of the roof and walls of this building is falling off. As a result, the Sub-Registrar and his staff are working under extreme risk.
Moklesur Rahman Bachchu and Sher Mahmud, leaders of the Association of Document Writers, said that the building is very old and damage. Also valuable documents get lost during rains. So they have demanded to the higher authorities to construct a new building here on an urgent basis.
Sub-Registrar Kamrul Hasan said, the plaster of the roof of the office building fell off and the rod had came out. In such an abandoned room he has to do important work like land registration under daily risk. Therefore, a letter has been written to the authority to construct an office building of its own immediately.
District Registrar Deepak Kumar Sarkar said, earlier Magistrate and Munsef Courts were included in upazila system. For this reason, the Ministry of Law constructed a court building here. Later, as the Upazila Court was cancelled, the building belonged to the Ministry of Law, but the place came under the jurisdiction of the Parishad. For this, the sub-registry office building cannot be constructed there. However, if the Upazila Parishad gives permanent approval to that place for the sub-registry office, it is possible to construct a new building there, he said.
So, the residents have strongly demanded the government to demolish the abandoned court building and construct a new sub-registry office building there.
