Rapes at JU, Subarnachar: Gang-rape again in Subarnachar!

In a disturbing incident in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali, a woman and her fifth-grade daughter were gang-raped by a group of thieves who broke into their home.

The assailants also robbed the family of gold ornaments and cash totaling Tk17,225.

Rafiqul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charjabbar Police Station, confirmed the attack to the media on Tuesday.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday around 2 am in a house at Charkaji Mokhlech village.

The woman, who was living with her three children while her husband was away for work, was subjected to this heinous crime.

The thieves tied the woman’s hands, feet, and face before committing the rape and stealing valuables from the house.

Neighbors, alerted by the screams, rushed to the scene and subsequently informed the Charjabbar police station.

OC Rafiqul Islam stated that police remained at the site since the early morning, indicating that a case would be filed and efforts were underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the crime.

This incident comes in the wake of a court sentencing 10 individuals to death and six others to life imprisonment the previous day, related to the gang rape of another housewife in Subarnachar upazila on the night of the 11th general election on December 30, 2018.

The earlier case involved the gang rape of a mother of four, including involvement by an Awami League leader, allegedly for not voting for a preferred candidate, as reported by the survivor.

The victim’s husband said the Abul Khaer repeatedly harassed her wife on the mobile phone and invoked her to do physical relation.

When my wife blocked his mobile number, he got angry and did this incident of gang- rape.
