Triple murder in Sirajganj: Nephew confesses to killing

Nephew Rajeev Bhowmik, who was involved in the murder of his uncle, aunt and cousin in their own house in Barwari Battala Mohalla of Tarash Upazila Sadar area under Sirajganj district, confessed his involvement with the brutal killing.
Rajeev Bhowmik admitted during police interrogation that he killed Bikash Sarkar (45) younger son of Kalicharan Sarkar, Bikash’s wife Swarna Rani Sarkar (40) and daughter Paramita Sarkar Tushi (15), a class 10 student of Tarash Government Girls High School.
Sirajganj District Superintendent of Police Ariful Rahman Mondal confirmed the matter through a press release on Wednesday afternoon.
Sukmal Chandra Saha, the elder brother of deceased Swarna Sarkar, filed a murder case with Tarash Police Station on Tuesday night.
Based on information, a team of Sirajganj District Police, CID, PBI, DB and Tarash Thana police arrested Rajiv Bhowmik as a prime accused.
Rajeev Bhowmik is the son of Vishwanath of Telipara village in Ullapara upazila.
Rajiv Bhowmik in his confessional statement to the police said that deceased Bikash Sarkar had a fish food business with his nephew Rajiv Bhowmik.
Bikash took Tk 20 lakh loan from a bank for nephew Rajiv Bhowmik’s business.
The relationship with the nephew deteriorated when the deceased Bikash Sarkar demanded the return of total money along with the capital.
Rajiv came to his Bikash house on January 27 in the afternoon. As uncle was not at home Rajiv asked for a cup of coffee to his aunty from outside of the house.
Meantime, Rajiv killed his cousin Paramita Sarkar and later killed his aunty (Mami) soon after reaching the house with coffee. He killed Swarna Sarker by hitting with a rod and cut her throat with a hasua, a local weapon.
Rajiv called his uncle Bikash to come home over mobile phone.
He killed Bikash Sarkarin the same manner as soon as he reached home. However, the police recovered the rod and hasua used in the murder.
