India’s 75th Republic Day celebrated

The 75th Republic Day of India celebrated in Sylhet Bangladesh with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the High Commission of India. Assistant High Commission of India, Sylhet organized the 75th Republic Day celebrations at Hotel Star Pacific on Friday.
The ceremony started with National Anthems of India and Bangladesh followed by cultural performances by Bangladeshi students. Shakuntala Kalra, acting Assistant High Commissioner welcomed the distinguished guests. Manas Kumar Mustafi, Second Secretary (PIC & Education) highlighted strong historical bonding between India and Bangladesh during his speech.
Prominent dignitaries including Members of Parliament Muhibur Rahman Manik (Sunamganj -5), Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel (Moulvibazar -2), Md Zillur Rahman (Moulvibazar -3) along with Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Khadim of Hazrat Shahjalal Dargah Sharif Shamun Shah and SMP Commissioner Md Zakir Hossain Khan graced the occasion. MP Manik praised India for India’s contribution during 1971.
The Assistant High Commissioner welcomed the Indian community and greeted them on the occasion. It was followed by patriotic songs performed by the members of the Indian community in Sylhet.
