Man killed for protesting wife’s abuse

A man named Abdul Malek (45) was killed at his home due to eve-teasing in Mithamain haor upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday. The incident took place in Shantipur village under Katkhal union of the Upazila.
Accused Abdul (35) ran away immediately after the incident. The locals said, Abdul Malek’s wife Sajeda Begum was harassed by Osman Mia’s son Abdul (35) of the same village for many days. Abdul Malek, the deceased, has tried several times to the Chairman of Katkhal Union Parishad.
Abul Mia, the sister-in-law of the deceased, said that the deceased Abdul Malek gave a trial against Abdul to Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Tajul Islam a few weeks ago. Still there was no cure. On Tuesday evening, Osman Mia’s son Abdul and his associates went to the house of Abdul Malek who died suddenly and started beating. He died on the spot. The Officer in Charge( OC) in Mitamoion Police Station, Ahasan Habib said, received on information , Police rushed the spot , recovered body and sent to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH) morgue for autopsy.
