14 held over killing a shrimp fish trader

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 14 accused, including the main planner of the murder of a shrimp fish trader Mohammad Hossain.
According to the RAB, the accused have tried to induce the incident after the election violence.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB’s legal and media wing, confirmed the information on Thursday noon (January 18).
The arrestees are identified as Shahidul Islam Liton (45), Abu Jafar (50), Md. Sohail (37), Azgar Ali (45), Abul Hossain (35), Nazmul Hossain Rocky (27), Abdur Rahim (48), Joynal Abedin (55), Md. Shahin (23), Muhammad Shahab Uddin (45), Pradeep Kumar Shil (48), Md. Ridwan (31), Abdul Haque (55) and Md. Kaiser (35).
Khandaker Al Moin said that a shrimp trader named Mohammad Hossain was shot dead on the spot on the night of January 5 in the Rampura shrimp fish enclosure area of Chakoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The victim’s son filed a murder case with the Chakoria police station in Cox’s Bazar.
After the murder, the RAB intelligence trying utmost to bring those to book involved in the killings under the law.
In this connection, on Wednesday night, an avian group of RAB-1 conducted a raid in different areas of the capital and arrested them including the original planners.
During the initial interrogation, the arrested persons confessed their involvement in the murder.
It is reported that there are several cases against them in various police stations in Cox’s Bazar for various crimes, RAB officials added.
