Charge hearing in graft case against Samrat deferred

Meanwhile, another Dhaka court yesterday deferred the date for charge hearing against Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, an expelled Juba League leader and alleged casino kingpin, in a graft case to March 5.

The case was set to be heard in the court of Judge (in charge) Monjurul Imam of the Special Judge Court-6 on Monday.

But Samrat’s lawyer sought time and allowing time, the court set the new date for charge hearing.

ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam, also Investigation Officer of the case, filed the graft case on the allegation of acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk 2,94,80,087 on November 12 of 2019.

After investigation of the case, ACC Deputy Director submitted charge sheet to the court against Samrat on November 26 of 2020.
