Bagerhat Correspondent :
As per the declaration of the highest authorities of the Railway Department the long desired the passenger trains could not ply on Mongla (Port)-Jashohar via Fultala (Khulna) newly constructed rail route on the 1st day of the year of 2024. As a result, both the passengers and the general people who were eagerly waiting long for the day were disappointed.
It is expected by the concerned persons that just with the plying of trains (particularly goods-trains) on the newly constructed Mongla Port-Fultala (Khulna) Station 91 long Kilometers Railway Line a new era will be ushered in the trade & commerce sector of the south-western region of the country through the using of Mongla Sea Port.
Md. Arifuzzman, Director of Mongla-Khulna Rail line Project told on December 31 (Sunday), as per the schedule declared earlier the trains carrying passengers will not ply on this line on the 1st January, 2024. He disclosed, it cannot be ascertained when the passenger train will ply on this new rail route. According to him, the reason for failure of the schedule is that the contractor could not hand over the completion report of the project to the rail way authorities within the scheduled time.
It is stated that in order to make easy the transportation of goods from Mongla Port to other places of the country and vice-versa an initiative was undertaken by the Government to construct Mongla-Khulna (Fultala Station) 91 kilometers long Rail line in the year of 2010.
