Post-poll violence 100 injured in Sunamganj

More than 100 people were injured in a clash between the supporters of winning and defeated candidates following the parliamentary elections in Dowarabazar upazila of Sunamganj on Wednesday
Awami League nominated candidate Muhibur Rahman Manik won the January 7 election for fifth time from Sunamganj-5 (Chhatak-Doarabazar) constituency beating his nearest candidate Sunamganj district AL’s joint-general secretary Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury, who had contested as an independent candidate.
Shamim Ahmed’s supporter Shamim, a resident of Purba-Masimpur village of Dowarabazar, locked in an altercation with Muhibur’s supporter Abul Hossain, of Nayeengaon village of the upazila, on Tuesday night, the locals said.
