Gunshots, cocktail explosion in Ishwardi vote centres

In Ishwardi, the miscreants have caused a number of cocktail explosions and empty bullets near the polling station in support of the 48-hour hartal called by the BNP to reduce the voter turnout by creating panic among the voters. The incident took place in Gokulnagar area near Govt Sara Marwari Model School and College center on Sunday (January 7) around 1.30 pm. However, there were no reports of any casualty or adverse impact on the voters at the center.
With the explosion of the cocktail, the leaders and activists of the upazila and municipal Awami organ cooperative organizations came there and chased the miscreants. Members of the law enforcement agencies also arrived and brought the situation under control.
Locals said that cocktails have exploded in this area several times in the morning. That is why the people of the area are afraid to go to the SM school center to vote.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Ishwardi Police Station Monirul Islam confirmed the cocktail explosion. He said miscreants are doing these incidents in empty spaces to create fear among the voters. If you chase them, fire 2-3 rounds at point blank range. However, we law enforcement agencies are on alert.
