Cultural federations demand justice for torching train

Fifteen cultural federations on Saturday expressed their concern in a joint statement as Benapole Express train was set on fire at Gopibagh in the capital on Friday that killed at least four people and injured several others.

The federations also demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in torching the train and killing people, reports media.

‘We urge the government to identify the real criminals through immediate investigation and ensure their exemplary punishment,’ read the statement signed by Sammilita Sangskritik Jote general secretary Ahkam Ullah.

The signatories to the joint statement are – Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, Jatiya Kabita Parishad, Bangladesh Abritti Samanway Parishad, Bangladesh Pathnatak Parishad, Bangladesh Ganasangeet Samanway Parishad, Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha, Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad.
