Women entrepreneurs of the country will enjoy 10 percent quota in the allotment of plots at each of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial estates and an additional benefit and rebate in the payment and one-time payment for the allotted plots respectively .

The provisions have been incorporated in the new allotment policy of the BSCIC announced yesterday.

In a briefing on the newly formulated policy titled ‘BCIC Policy for Plot Allocation and Management in Industrial Towns/Industrial Parks-2023’,BSCIC Chairman Mahbubur Rahman revealed those information at the BSIC conference room on Wednesday. Members of the Board of Directors of BSCIC were also present in the programme.

The policy aims to make the industrial entities under the BSCIC more effective and extensively outlines the plot allotment process, eligibility criteria, payment procedures, and the establishment of factories within industrial parks.

Mahbubur Rahman also informed that the new policy of BSCIC has been formulated with additional benefits for women entrepreneurs in allotment of plots and payment of various industrial cities and industrial parks of the country.

According to the new policy, women entrepreneurs can pay a one-time deposit (down payment) of 15 percent of the total price of the plot to get allotment of plots. Pay the remaining amount in 14 installments over a total of seven years; which was earlier 10 installments. 14 In case of payment in installments, one time deposit and installments will be calculated by calculating the full value of the plot with interest.

However, male entrepreneurs have to make a one-time deposit of 20 percent of the plot value. The remaining amount is to be repaid in 12 installments over six years. The installments have to be paid after one year from the issuance of the allotment letter after taking possession of the plot.
