Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team reached the final of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup final defeating India Under-19 Cricket team by four wickets in the semi-final at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates on Friday.
Chasing India’s fragile total of 188 off 42.4 overs, Bangladesh coasted home making 189 for the loss of six wickets when they had 43 balls to spare.
Bangladesh faced a disaster as they lost their early three wickets for 34 runs.
Second-down Ariful Islam and third-down Ahrar Amin rescued their team from danger contributing together 138 runs in the four-wicket stand before Ariful Islam was dismissed by Raj Lumbani when Bangladesh’s total was 172 for the loss of four wickets.
Ariful Islam was a victim of nervous nineties. He notched up a terrific 94. His 90-ball innings was decorated with four sixes and nine fours.
Ahrar Amin scored a sedate 44. He hit three fours in his 101-ball knock before he was dismissed by Numan Tiwari when the Junior Tigers’ total was 187 for the loss of six wickets.
Numan Tiwari grabbed three wickets at the cost of 35 runs, while Raj Lumbani bagged two wickets conceding 47 runs.
Earlier, India lost their early six wickets for 61 runs.
Fourth-down Musheer Khan and sixth-down Murugan Abhishek fought back contributing together 84 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Musheer Khan was dismissed by Mahfuzur Rahman when India’s total was 145 for the loss of seven wickets.
Musheer Khan hit a fine 50. His 61-ball innings was belted with three fours.
Murugan Abhishek notched up a sparkle 62. His 74-ball innings had six fours and two sixes.
Maruf Mridha captured four wickets in the space of 41 runs, while Sheikh Parvez and Rohanat Doullah claimed two wickets each instead of 29 and 39 runs respectively. Maruf Mridha was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mahfuzur Rahman took one wicket for 33 runs.
