4 DU Chhatra Union members hurt allegedly by Chhatra League

At least four leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Union were injured in an alleged attack by the activists of DU Chhatra League near the TSC and the vice chancellor’s home of Dhaka University.

The incidents took place at around 1:30pm on Thursday, reports media.

The injured are Meghmallar Basu, president of Chhatra Union’s Dhaka University unit, General Secretary Main Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of Dhaka city Chhatra union unit Tajmir Tajwar Shuvro and Shahriar Shihab of private university unit.

The injured were first taken to the BSMMU and later to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. As Meghmollar Boshu suffered serious injury in his left eye, he was taken to the national eye hospital.

Witnesses said the leaders and activists of the Chhatra Union were having tea at the TSC on Thursday. When they were leaving by a rickshaw, Meghmallar Basu and Shuvro were attacked in Shahbagh area and severely beaten by the BCL activists.

The others were also beaten separately.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge Bacchu Mia said Meghmallar had an injury in his left eye. They are being treated at the emergency department, he added.
