Morrelganj beggar woman’s home burnt to ashes

A dwelling house belonging to an old and widowed beggar woman named Zamela Begum (65) of village Pashkhali within Jewdhara Union under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was burnt to ashes when it caught fire in the evening of Saturday last, according to a report received here.
The villagers tried to extinguish the fire, but in vain. In the year of 2007 when the devastating cyclone Sidar swept over Morrelganj and its adjacent some other Upazilas in Bagerhat district she lost her all belongs.
After this dreadful incident she was given a dwelling house constructed by some NGOs. The cause behind the fire is yet to ascertain.
Md. Shahidul Islam, UP member of the concerned ward told, Zamela Begum is the daughter of late Mohammad Shaikh of his ward and her husband died long 20 years ago. She has no child.
