December is the month
of national
self-identification

The month of victory for the Bengalis and Bangladesh has started. The most glorious chapter in the life of the Bengali nation began with the final victory over the Pakistani forces on the 16th of this month in the Great War of Liberation.

On March 26, 1971, the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, declared the independence of Bangladesh, and the deadly war of Bengalis against the Pakistani forces began.

At one stage of the long 9-month heroic war of liberation, the Bengalis began to rush towards victory.

At one point, Pakistan’s modern armed forces were forced to admit defeat. Pakistan was forced to formally surrender on 16 December.

From the beginning of December 1971, the news of the defeat of the barbaric Pakistani invading forces in the face of the guerilla attack of the freedom fighters and the combined forces consisting of the Indian allied forces in water, land and air began to emerge from all directions.

In this month, the anti-independence forces, with the help of Razakar-Albadr Al-Shams, carried out brutal massacres of the talented, best children and intellectuals of the country.

There is no other precedent in the world for such a despicable massacre of the entire nation.

When you hear the word December, you feel the cold heartbeat of sacrifice, success and victory in the depths of your heart.

Those who have never tasted subjugation will never experience freedom or victory.

But sadly, even after half a century, people’s basic rights as well as human rights could not be fully achieved.

If we limit the celebration only to devotion, we will miss to achieve our goal; the purpose of the Bangladesh state will be neglected.

Today’s generation needs to know why we could not live with West Pakistanis.
