Twelve BNP leaders, activists jailed for 3 years in sabotage case

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday sentenced 12 BNP leaders and activists to three years each prison in a sabotage case.
The convicts are- Anwarul Azim, Haider Ali Babla, Md Alauddin, Shawkat, Md Parvez, Imran Hossain Imu, Sayeed Ahmed, Haji Farhad Rana, Arif Hossain Bappy, Fazlul Haque Moni, Haji Md Nazim Uddin and Md Sobhan.
Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam of the CMM Court of Dhaka delivered the verdict on Wednesday.
The court sentenced them to a year in jail under Section 147 of the Penal Code and a two-year prison sentence under Section 353.
They were also fined Tk 5,000 each, and in default they will have to serve three months more in the prison.
However, both sentences- a year and two years, will continue together, the verdict said.
