Judges feel insecure following recent attacks on courts: CJ

Staff Reporter :
The chief justice on Tuesday directed the inspector general of police to enhance security to all the judges, their courtrooms, transports as well as their residences across Bangladesh.

The CJ gave the direction as the judges expressed anxiety, scared and felt insecure following recent explosion of crude bombs on court compounds at places in the country.

Chief justice Obaidul Hassan issued the directive to the IGP and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, according to a letter issued by the High Court Division’s registrar Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman on Tuesday.

The registrar said that bombs were blasted recently in the compound of Dhaka District and Sessions Judge’ Court, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court and Khulna District and Sessions Judges’ Court.

He said that a justice seeker was earlier killed in the courtroom of Cumilla District and Sessions Judge’ Court.

“Itis essential to ensure safety and security for the judges, their courts and residences as well as the transports carrying them, in the interest of smooth functioning of the judiciary,” said the registrar.
